These safety tips supplement our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Your account is for you only — do not share credentials, OTP codes, sessions, or passkeys with anyone.

Meet in public, well-lit places on or near campus when possible. Consider bringing a friend for higher-value items.

Inspect before paying
Check the item condition, accessories, serial numbers where appropriate, and whether electronics work before completing payment.

Keep records
Use UniMercato messaging for coordination where possible. Avoid moving immediately to external channels.

Protect personal information
Do not share passwords, OTP codes, passkeys, banking credentials, identity documents, student records, or unnecessary personal details.

Be careful with payment
UniMercato does not process payments or provide escrow. Be cautious with advance payments, unusual payment methods, overpayment requests, or pressure to act quickly.

Report suspicious behavior
Report scams, harassment, prohibited items, misleading listings, unsafe meetup requests, or suspicious accounts. If there is immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
